The objective was to know the operationalization of the permanence policy adopted at the Federal University of Piauí (UFPI), using as a sample the baccalaureate ones of the health area, of the headquarters Campus. Data were collected through semi-structured questionnaires made available online. The results showed that the permanence policy is composed of a set of actions developed by the Pro-Rectory of Student and Community Affairs (Praec), at the expense of the PNAES, involving scholarships, exemption from fees in restaurants, housing in university residences and pedagogical services, social, psychological and dental, which are indispensable for the student to remain in university.
