Abstract

PEIXOTO, Joana. Contributions to the Technocentrism Critique. R. Educ. Públ. [online]. 2022, vol.31, e13374.  Epub June 29, 2022. ISSN 2238-2097.  https://doi.org/10.29286/rep.v31ijan/dez.13374.

The technocentrism critique has been present in academic production with regard to the relationship between technologies and education, especially based on the argument that technologies do not play a preponderant role in the transformation of pedagogical practices. On the other hand, such production is inserted in the technocentric determinist perspective, advocating the imperative insertion of technologies in pedagogical practices, as these must include technological advances. This article argues that – to overcome technocentrism – a dialectical critique is necessary, based on the exercise of thought that starts from and returns to the concrete, passing through the abstract.

Keywords : Technologies and education; Technocentrism; Abstraction; Dialectical logic.
