PARENTE, Francilene de Aguiar; MILEO, Irlanda do Socorro de Oliveira  and  SILVA, Luciana Costa da. CULTURES SILENCED IN THE AMAZON: LAW N° 11.645/2008 AND THE INDIGENOUS THEMES IN THE HISTORY TEXTBOOK. R. Educ. Públ. [online]. 2022, vol.31, e14213.  Epub Dec 09, 2022. The history book of the 5th year of Elementary School is analyzed in light of Law nº 11.645/2008, which determines the mandatory inclusion of the study of Afro-Brazilian and indigenous culture and history in the curricula of schools in Brazil. It was investigated how Law nº 11.645/2008 is applied regarding the indigenous issue in the history textbook “Apis” from Ática publisher, present in city and countryside schools in the municipality of Altamira-PA, in the Amazon region of Pará. Through a qualitative approach mediated by bibliographic and documentary research, the analyzes indicate a homogeneous, stereotyped and silencing treatment of indigenous societies in Brazilian territory.
