COSTA, Candida Soares da y CARVALHO, José Jorge de. Frauding quotas at universities: discursive strategies of non-blacks claiming vacancies reserved for black people at UFMT. R. Educ. Públ. [online]. 2023, vol.32, e13593. Epub 25-Ago-2023. ISSN 2238-2097. https://doi.org/10.29286/rep.v32ijan/dez.13593.
We analyzed the speeches of non-black candidates, considered ineligible for vacancies reserved for black people at UFMT, Sisu 2019 selection process. We problematized the discursive strategies used in order to understand the meanings produced. We chose the “Standard Identification” form as source, contained in the recursive processes. We adopted Discourse Analysis (Gill 2002; Orlandi, 2001, 2005) as a methodological foundation and Carvalho (2004, 2007, 2008, 2020, 2022), Carvalho, Seidl and Assis (2018), Woodward (2000), Vaz (2018) and Wedderburn (2015). The idea of Brazil as a mestizo country serves as a justification for fraud with the aim of occupying vacancies reserved for black people.
