This study analyzed the performance of young people from the state of São Paulo, completing high school, regarding knowledge related to biodiversity. This is a longitudinal study on the results of boys and girls who completed Basic Education in the National High School Exam between 2009 and 2018. We used quantitative methodology, based on the analysis of the average percentage of correct answers, including the upper and lower deciles, percentage variation and administrative dependence. Young people in the state of São Paulo have been performing poorly in knowledge related to biodiversity, with a slight advantage for boys.
