Abstract

NASCIMENTO, Vânia Virgens Almeida; BORGES, Scarlett Giovana  and  SILVA, Rodrigo Manoel Dias da. Occupy the Ruins: essay about the Human Rights educations in student occupations in 2015/2016. R. Educ. Públ. [online]. 2023, vol.32, e13588.  Epub Dec 28, 2023. ISSN 2238-2097.  https://doi.org/https://doi.org/10.29286/rep.v32ijan/dez.13588.

In this essay, we analyze the student occupations of public schools in Brazil, between 2015 and 2016, about their transformative potential in school everyday life. Education in Human Rights was evidence in this context as an experience and reflection on the democratic ideals of citizenship and social justice proposed in the resurgence of educational praxis. We consider that student occupations, in their communicative capacity, put Human Rights Education on the agenda and put into practice, taking the school and the media as the ruin of their institutional process.
