The research critically analyzed the Teacher Professional Development System in Chile. The bill was resisted by a large part of the public sector teaching staff and by a group of progressive academics, in general, because such public policy was part of the neoliberal strategy, despite being promoted by a center-left government. A key aspect was to recognize the argumentative structure that tells us about the existence of a crisis, the culprits, and the solutions, mainly in the press, which had repercussions in the parliamentary discussion.The research was guided by a critical-analytical epistemological position. The analysis of sources was carried out through the methodology of documentary analysis and critical content analysis.
