Historically, schools that claimed to have active methodologies fostered the hope of promoting the emancipation of the working classes and, thus, contributing to access to quality education for all, being capable of transforming human societies. Over time, these schools invested in new educational environments to now be implemented in more heterogeneous sociopolitical contexts. In this sense, the original democratization project seems to give way to neoliberal-inspired drifts, suspected of favoring a form of adaptation to the expectations of the market economy. This trend appears to be part of a more global internationalization process. It is in this context that we share our reflections as professionals on this phenomenon of internationalization of active pedagogy methodologies, discussing the creation of the first university continuing education course aimed at practicing teachers: the university certificate in active pedagogy methodologies. This certificate, which will soon have an extra-European expansion, aims to respond to a need for institutional positioning that is at the same time ethical, supportive and humanistic.
