This article aims to discuss the challenges encountered in the implementation of the BNCC in an early childhood education unit located in a public institution of higher education. The qualitative research was carried out through the analysis of the institution's PPP and semi-structured interviews with UEI teachers. The results demonstrate the movement that the UEI carried out for the (re)construction of the PPP, observing the limitations and potentialities of the BNCC. It is concluded that the adequacy of the PPP sought to value children's protagonism based on an interpretation of the BNCC, which does not restrict the specificities of Early Childhood Education.
