ROLKOUSKI, Emerson  e  MENEGUSSO, Leticia. Programs to combat school dropout: reflections and understandings based on a study in an institution in Paraná State. Rev. Educ. Polít. Debate [online]. 2024, vol.13, n.2, a2024-70841. ISSN 2238-8346.  https://doi.org/10.14393/repod-v13n2a2024-70841.

The problem of school dropout is latent in Brazilian reality, which has encouraged research to expand understanding of the phenomenon. This article is part of this movement, focusing on public policies to combat school quitting. The objective is to provide an understanding of the programs launched by the Government of the State of Paraná – the Program to Combat School Dropout in its second edition (2018) and the Present at School Program (2019). The research locus was a school in the Industrial City of Curitiba. To this end, contributions from the Educational Policy Cycle method were mobilized. Official documents and interviews with the researched school principal, a teacher, and a manager from the State Department of Education of the State of Paraná (SEED-PR) were used as data. The result is the need for dialogue with the community involved in creating programs that can help construct appropriate public policies to the varied Brazilian school realities.
