This article analyzes the implementation of the New high School (NEM) in eight pilot schools of the state education system of Espírito Santo (ES). The study uses legislative documents and interviews with the directors and the pedagogues of the pilot schools, submitted to content analysis. It is concluded that the implementation in ES is in line with the principles of the reform articulated to the mechanisms of the new neoliberal governance in action, since it produces: individualized accountability of students in their school trajectory and adaptation to the new model through the Life Proyect; reduction of teaching autonomy; flexibilization and devaluation of teaching work transforming pedagogical work into administrative and altruism of managers in the style of the private system.
