Abstract This work aims to present ways of reading from different readers, called savers in first reading material, in an attempt to understand how they constitute the practice of reading at different times and places. From the statement of persons above 50 years of reading experiences occurred with an object -book, this present work answer what reading of practices made in school environments and non- -school may reveal and trigger in the reader over time. Based in conceptions of Darnton and Chartier about the history of reading and book, the text seeks to discuss issues such as materiality of printed and practice of reading that accompany it.
