Resumen

MURCE FILHO, Newton Freire. Changes in family structure in highly recommended Canadian and Brazilian children’s books. LTP [online]. 2013, vol.31, n.61, pp.15-61. ISSN 2317-0972.

The objective of this article is to present the results of a research project on highly recommended children’s books produced in Canada and Brazil recently. The project was undertaken with the assistance of the Government of Canada, through the Understanding Canada Program. Two Canadian institutions had an important role in the initial investigation: The Canadian Children’s Book Centre (CCBC), in Toronto, and The Centre for Research in Young People’s Texts and Cultures (CRYTC), at The University of Winnipeg, in Winnipeg. In Brazil, The National Foundation of Children’s and Youth Books (FNLIJ) was an important source of research. The main goals of the project are: to investigate highly recommended Canadian children’s picture books that have been recently published, with a special focus on changes in family structures, particularly concerning the father figure; to identify similarities and differences between Canadian and Brazilian children’s books.

Palabras clave : Children’s Literature; Family Structure; Canada/Brazil.
