The article discusses the ways we read classroom scenes through the analysis of images taken by students, in initial teacher training, of their own teaching practices during the science teaching supervised program. The text aims to consider ways of reading that do not submit image to narrative or vice versa. In this direction, we wonder what there is to be seen in the classroom scene when reading the image as we change its focus from a documentary perspective, from an idea of illustration of a pedagogical practice. The article is part of a research on image, environment and education, inspired by cultural studies theories. The essay is argumentatively based on a single image produced by science and biology teachers in initial training
