University dropouts generate consequences at individual, organizational and social levels and one way to combat it is to understand how the involved in the educational process perceive the phenomenon and how they act in its confrontation. Thus, this article aimed to understand the perception of professors at the Center for Rural Health and Technology at the Federal University of Campina Grande about the dropout process of university students. After a survey carried out with 45 professors on the campus and the quantitative and qualitative analysis of the data, several analysis categories emerged that illustrate the factors that influence the student dropout process and the strategies and actions to reduce dropout.
