Abstract

GROPPO, Luís Antonio. A sketch of the genesis of the field of socio- -educational practices in Brazil: applying the concept of social field of Bourdieu. Sér.-Estud. [online]. 2013, n.35, pp.59-78. ISSN 2318-1982.  https://doi.org/10.20435/2318-1982-2013-v.35(05).

From literature review, I apply the notion of Bourdieu’s social field to create a sketch of the field of socioeducational practices in Brazil. I evaluate the notion of field Bourdieu, featuring references to its analysis, highlighted doxa and nomos. I evaluate the key players in this field refers to the process of legitimation: the social market, State and universities. I evaluate, finally, three different candidates for the development of this field doxa: popular education, non-formal education and social pedagogy. Currently, social pedagogy seems to have gained hegemony, with its proposal that associates the “social” to exclusion and “educational” to inclusion, care and prevention.

Keywords : Social Pedagogy; Non-Formal Education; Popular Education.
