The paper deals with the death of Mario Alighiero Manacorda in Rome on 17 of February of 2013, one of the largest Italian Marxist intellectuals of the twentieth century. Throughout the text is treated on their training under the fascist regime, as a teacher, researcher, activist, and finally a farewell to a great man who knew how to distinguish the ideal communist culture of the practice of real socialism.
