This paper presents aspects of the language of the oppressor as opposed to the oppressed, in the book “Pygmalion” by Bernard Shaw. After reading this play, the film version “My Fair Lady” was looked for in order to have the necessary support to address oral language in the text. Eliza Doolittle is the voice of the oppressed in the play. She goes from a flower girl to a woman of the bourgeoisie. And as she have her speech and posture changed, she loses her identity.
