Abstract

MEDEIROS, Heitor Queiroz de; SOUZA, Fabiana Pereira de  and  BIGIO, Elias dos Santos. The participation of indigenous teachers in the implementation of the National Policy of Territorial and Environmental Management of Indigenous Territories (PNGATI) in Brasil. Sér.-Estud. [online]. 2013, n.36, pp.303-318. ISSN 2318-1982.  https://doi.org/10.20435/2318-1982-2013-v.36(20).

This research was developed in the Pos - graduation program of Environmental Science (Master), in the Universidade do Estado do Mato Grosso (UNEMAT). It intends to analyse how the National Police of Territorial and Environmental Management of Indigenous Lands (PNGATI), instituted by the Presidential Decree n. 7.747/2012 has been implemented on indigenous lands in Brazil, contributing for the protection of the territories with an environmental and cultural value internationally recognized, due to changes in the soil occupation police in Brazil. One of the focuses of this analyze is with indigenous teachers that are students in the Faculdade Indígena Intercultural of UNEMAT, Campus Barra do Bugres, MT. The methodology used for the data collection and data analysis involved qualitative and quantitative techniques and procedures, through exploratory research and documental analyses. As a partial result it´s possible to notice that indigenous teachers recognize PNGATI as an important instrument for the territorial management of their areas, but it has been verified the need of a more expressive participation of the indigenous people in the implementation of this police in order to reach the objectives proposed in PNGATI.
