Abstract

GASPARIN, João Luiz. The concept of childhood, educational process and schooling in Jan Amos Komensky. Sér.-Estud. [online]. 2015, n.40, pp.99-118. ISSN 2318-1982.  https://doi.org/10.20435/2318-1982-2015-v.40(06).

The concept of childhood and the education and schooling process proposed by Komensky are analyzed and discussed. Current investigation deals with the following question: Which is the concept of childhood that occurs in Comenius´s educational works and which is the education and schooling process suggested for children? The theoretical and descriptive research reveals that Comenius is imbued with the philosophical and theological presuppositions that everything should be taught to human beings so that they may become human; otherwise, they become blind, deaf and dumb beings. Education, which makes people human beings in the full sense of the word, may be accomplished with more ease during the first childhood. Nature is the educational model for children. The seeds of all education should be planted during childhood since that which is absorbed during the first years is firm and stable.

Keywords : Childhood; Education; Schooling Process.
