This text is the result of an Education Policy research aimed to discuss the category of "unit school" Antonio Gramsci highlighting the political commitment of the said author toward the overcoming of the capitalist society and implementation of a new model of society, what is clear from the concep tion of the work process. So for Gramsci, the "unit school" constitutes an educational proposal aimed at the emancipation of the working class. Although not argue that an education "disinterested" should await the overcoming of capitalist society, the condition for its implementation is subject to overcoming this social model that survives the exploitation of labor. We consider it important to stress that this emancipatory education alternative is the educational principle Gramscian unity between life and school. Thus takes up the "humanistic ideal" assumption needed to contemporary civilization, ie that the school transformed into devenir and in line with Gramsci, "full of concrete ideas" beyond the school of "practical concerns" confusing democracy, since it aims to perpetuate social diff erences and to crystallize them as emancipatory practices.
