The theme of sociolinguistics reflexivity becomes relevant in the context of visions, policies and discussions about continuity, vitality and recognition of linguistic and cultural diversity and in addition to understanding contemporary intercultural exchanges. A par-tir to accept the premise that knowledge of language and communication are always set in a sociocultural way that is historically contingent, enters stage a many questions about objectivity, motivations and nature of practical sociolinguistic reflective policies. Given the current environment of inequality and discrimination, the need for self-criticism and introspection of speakers and researchers appears as a key aspect of the so-called indigenous question in Latin America.
