The studies on democracy and citizenship by transforming a historic process that completely encompasses the entire history of humanity, specifically the west. This way, it is important to give the initial moments of this experience and the debates on this topic, as the basis historical-structural understanding of the contradictions that permeate the democracy and citizenship contemporary and the challenges of the coming years. This time, this article search make some considerations about the wealth of Ancient History, particularly the experience and contribution of Athenian civilization for democracy and citizenship. It is a theoretical discussion with practical bias based on authors of western literature.
