The article identifies the consensus elements of social representations of being a teacher built by beginners teachers of kindergarten and elementary school. The research is based on the foundations of societal approach, starring Willem Doise. It is an exploratory study for which we used a questionnaire with open questions, answered by 70 teachers from municipal and state schools in the metropolitan area of Recife. The results indicate consensual elements of a social representation of the teaching profession associated with negative factors, marked by pessimism that links to several aspects that make precarious the teaching. You can admit that the precarious context contributes to the representational consensus of the profession is articulated to a sense of teacher malaise.
