The article reflects the Institutional Scholarship Program of Teaching Initiation (PIBID) and its place in the preliminary document recently released by the Strategic Affairs Department, linked to the Presidency of the Republic. It makes a connection with the research: National Teacher Formation Policy: A Study of PIBID as a promoting and valorization policy of teacher formation. The research was developed through bibliographical studies, document analysis and the use of focus group dynamics with PIBID academics of the following courses: Pedagogy, Life Sciences, Mathematics and Letters, of URI, Campus of Frederico Westphalen, RS. The objective was to analyze the National Policy on Teacher Formation, in order to understand the PIBID and its contribution to the valorization and qualification of Basic Education future teachers. The conclusions point to the importance of the program in the teacher formation process. Complementarily it was studied how PIBID is placed in the preliminary document Educating Homeland.
