Abstract

SILVA, Ketiuce Ferreira  and  PRATA-LINHARES, Martha Maria. Professional development teaching in distance education: reports of a participative investigation. Sér.-Estud. [online]. 2016, vol.21, n.41, pp.184-202. ISSN 2318-1982.  https://doi.org/10.20435/231819822016112.

This article presents results of a study that aimed to understand the context that permeates the professional development of teachers and tutors of a Faculty of Education, at a public university, offered in the distance. The motivating problem of the investigation was to seek answers for how has been the professional development of teachers in Distance Education and what to do to improve this process. A qualitative approach was adopted and through data from participative research and theoretical studies, it was identified that while public policies regarding the context of the Open University System of Brazil (UAB) demonstrate weaknesses that disadvantage the professional development of university teaching in distance education, the analyzes suggest ways to minimize the difficulties in this process as a institutional stronger commitment with distance education and strengthening the collective work between teachers and tutors in distance courses.
