Abstract

The purpose of this article is to show the logic models' process to guide the design and evaluation of programs, helping managers, designers and program evaluators to design programs and their goals, planning processes, identifying the strategies for the activities aimed at achieving the intended results and assess, in a comprehensive way, the program, processes and results, and from a comprehensive point of view, make suggestions for improvement. The characteristics of logic models are analyzed, joined to the elements underlying the program evaluation, the program concept and the quality criteria. Research methodologies used in evaluation, the characteristics of the reports and their orientation to promote the use of evaluation results, also are analyzed, together the standards that should guide the evaluation and meta-evaluation.
