This article deals with the importance of the Summa Theologica of Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274) as source for the study of the History of Medieval Education. The main objective is to reflect about the Question 6 (six) of the First part of the Second Part of Summa Theologica, whose title is The voluntary and the involuntary, to point the contributions of Dominican theologian for a most comprehensive understanding of the human education. The theoretical principles to do the analyses presented in this article were found in the Social History, expressed by Marc Bloch (2001). Therefore, we studied our objective considering the historical circumstances of the society that served it as atmosphere, so much that we realized the commitment of Thomas Aquinas with the fundamental debates of his time. In this sense, we pointed his work as professor in the university institutions of the Christian West of which the Summa is a direct result.
