Abstract

REZENDE, Enivalda Vieira dos Santos  and  MACHADO, Laeda Bezerra. Resilience indicators in teacher practice. Sér.-Estud. [online]. 2017, vol.22, n.46, pp.51-70. ISSN 2318-1982.  https://doi.org/10.20435/serie-estudos.v22i46.1020.

In this article we discuss the resilience characteristics manifested by teachers in the teaching profession. The notion of resilience is the ability to withstand obstacles and react to a situation of risk. This is a qualitative research developed with 15 teachers from municipal schools in Recife-PE. We used the interview procedure as a procedure, whose statements were organized through the technique of content analysis. The main characteristics of resilience revealed by the group interviewed were: persistence; Overcoming; Faith in God, in the capacity of the students and in the possibilities of change; Good humor and joy; Good coexistence in the work environment; Love for work and children; Creativity and hope. Teachers demonstrate to overcome limits, to face challenges, to break prejudices and to excel to the misfortunes of the profession. In view of the above, it is possible to affirm that these signs of resilience interfere in a positive way in the school context.

Keywords : teachers; resilience; pedagogical practice.
