In this article we explore the study of medieval poetry or songs, and from this we present a possibility of adaptation of this literary genre so that they are known by the child in the school stage. We consider that knowledge of poetry in teacher training is crucial to its performance. We present three Portuguese medieval poems, adapted in a playful way and with daily children’s themes. We believe that adaptation enables the child to be initiated into medieval literature. As it is a literary genre that involves rhymes, short speeches that refer to comics and various situations, in our view, will be a stimulus to children in relation to reading. Thus, through our training and the concept of education, we propose a dialogue about the necessity and importance of literature in the formation of children and teachers.
