Resumen

LOPEZ-LOPEZ, María Carmen  y  MOYA, Emilio Crisol. The commitment of the University of Granada in the internationalization: a case study. Sér.-Estud. [online]. 2020, vol.25, n.53, pp.121-142.  Epub 12-Mayo-2020. ISSN 2318-1982.  https://doi.org/10.20435/serie-estudos.v0i0.1332.

Higher Education institutions must learn to value and manage the consequences that derive from the new sociopolitical, economic and cultural scenarios of a transnational nature. In the last two decades, the university has undergone a process of transformation and international expansion, although not exempt from polemic. Along with the pressures that appeal to their commitment to economic development, influenced by neoliberal politics, are joined others that claim their contribution to sociocultural development, humanistic values and human rights. The current situation of Higher Education is complex and initiatives aimed at strengthening its internationalization have intensified. This work describes the actions undertaken by the University of Granada (Spain) to boost its international projection. To do this, an analysis of the following official documents have been done: Internationalization Plan, Research and Transfer Plan, Teacher Training and Innovation Plan and Development Cooperation Plan. The results obtained show the effort made in terms of mobility, internationalization of research and development cooperation, but reveals important challenges. The article concludes by emphasizing the transversal nature of internationalization and the dangers of adopting only an economic approach, the rise of nationalisms or economic regression.

Palabras clave : internationalization; Higher Education; university management.
