Abstract

JEZINE, Edineide; LLAVADOR, José Beltrán  and  PRESTES, Emilia Maria da Trindade. Lifelong education: dialogues between Brazil and Spain. Sér.-Estud. [online]. 2020, vol.25, n.54, pp.133-153.  Epub Sep 22, 2020. ISSN 2318-1982.  https://doi.org/10.20435/serie-estudos.v25i54.1404.

This article presents an approximation of the recent development of lifelong education in the framework of adult education in the contexts of Brazil and Spain. It begins with a reflection on the conception of cognitive justice, which broadens the notion of equal opportunities in education, establishing the connection between adult education and Higher Education. It plans a hypothetical contemporary interpretation by Paulo Freire about the current situation of education across the board and how this approach could inspire an international work agenda for the universities of Brazil and Spain. The final considerations show the differences in the materialization of educational propositions in both countries, but stand out as a horizon with the possibility that people develop their capacities and their lives through their equal educational opportunity.

Keywords : lifelong education; Higher Education; cognitive justice.
