This article intends to reflect on how the Brazilian National Common Core Curriculum (Base Nacional Comum Curricular, or BNCC, in Portuguese) dialogues (or not) with the principle of education democratic management, based on the analysis of the participation and autonomy categories. With the approval of such policy, there is a need for a proposal of action to overcome the difficulties found in the implementation of truly democratic education and, for this reason, the school must be (re)thought from the recovery of the subordinate classes participation forms in the dominant policies whether they are active or passive. In this context, the documents about the Brazilian National Common Core Curriculum concerning the elaboration, discussion, approval, and the concrete idealization as well as the democratic management consolidation since the 1988 Brazilian Constitution and the must be read and analyzed considering the legitimate and effective principles of the education democratic management which has already been consecrated formally in our country, although, unfortunately, it hasn’t been incorporated to the social and educational practice.
