Abstract

ROSSI, Mateus Francisco  and  PINTO, Rafael Ângelo Bunhi. College graduates’ perceptions about training in the Physiotherapy course at the University of Sorocaba. Sér.-Estud. [online]. 2022, vol.27, n.60, pp.241-263.  Epub Aug 30, 2022. ISSN 2318-1982.  https://doi.org/10.20435/serie-estudos.v27i60.1675.

The study aims to detail the profile of the graduates of the Physiotherapy course at the University of Sorocaba (UNISO) and analyze the views of these graduates regarding their higher education related to professional performance, so that it can contribute to the improvement of the course. As for the methodology, a qualitative and quantitative case study was carried out, with a self-administered questionnaire, employing an intentional non-probabilistic sampling method, covering aspects such as: identification, graduation path, access into the labor market, educational mobility, evaluation of the process of training in physiotherapy and satisfaction with the course and profession. In the results and discussion, it can be seen that the graduates of the UNISO Physiotherapy course are mostly white women, under 28 years old, who attended public high school and whose parents did not study higher education. They study postgraduaton, consider to be satisfied with the profession they chose and the course, especially the practical, specific and related to a humanistic and integral training. They quickly entered the job market and achieved social ascension by working as physiotherapists, but refer to dissatisfaction regarding remuneration and suggest targeting the course in aspects related to entrepreneurship and preparation for the job market.

Keywords : physiotherapy; college graduates; educational mobility.
