Abstract

SANTOS, Michele Priscila Gonçalves dos  and  CASTRO, Roney Polato de. YouTube’s cultural curriculum constituting subjects of gender and sexuality. Sér.-Estud. [online]. 2022, vol.27, n.61, pp.49-69.  Epub Feb 16, 2023. ISSN 2318-1982.  https://doi.org/10.20435/serieestudos.v27i61.1711.

The article presents discussions based on a master’s degree research in education, focusing on gender and sexuality discourses that circulate in the videos of youtuber Felipe Neto. We take the videos as cultural artifacts, whose pedagogies constitute subjects. Our analysis is centered on a cultural curriculum that teaches ways of being and being in the world, instituting ways of regulating conduct and challenging subjects to establish negotiation relationships with their content. We chose for the article analyzes related to two of the videos present on the youtuber channel. The focus of the videos is on advice and questions about sexual practices and conduct, involving negotiations on the use of condoms, monogamy, contamination by sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and the construction of masculinities based on the exercise of a virile sexuality. Cultural pedagogies of gender and sexuality, aligned with medical discourses, make videos potentially educational artifacts, as they invest in the construction of subjects called upon to establish relationships with themselves and with socially established truths.

Keywords : cultural pedagogies; discourses; sexuality.
