Abstract

GURGEL, Evanilson  and  MAKNAMARA, Marlécio. Curriculum-slasher and catastrophization device: in the guts of a zombie subjectivity. Sér.-Estud. [online]. 2022, vol.27, n.61, pp.71-93.  Epub Feb 16, 2023. ISSN 2318-1982.  https://doi.org/10.20435/serieestudos.v27i61.1698.

The article, affiliated with the field of post-critical research in Education and inspired by horror gore and slasher movies, aims to use the image of the zombie to signify it as a mode of subjectivation in progress. The argument is that zombie subjectivity is a compound of subject positions that carry traces of a collapsing planet and that weaves a character of modeling and serialization of subjects. Although this subjectivity can be demanded in different instances and spaces, we operate with the curriculum of serial narratives as one of the main articulators that update the lines of a “catastrophization device”. Such a device has served to respond to the need to define what counts, in a world in ruins, as liveable or killable. We conclude that although the curriculum of serial narratives triggers a necropolitics that aims to eliminate what disrupts the rules, it will have to face resistance as inventive, crafty, and agitating as the power it exerts.

Keywords : curriculum; subjectivity; device.
