Abstract

SORATTO, Marinês  and  NASCIMENTO, Adir Casaro. Guarani and Kaiowá knowledge: an analysis between western and traditional knowledge. Sér.-Estud. [online]. 2022, vol.27, n.61, pp.409-435.  Epub Feb 16, 2023. ISSN 2318-1982.  https://doi.org/10.20435/serieestudos.v27i61.1755.

In this text, we seek to understand how indigenous knowledge is related to Western knowledge in the academic area, an area that still has a lot of Western formatting. Considering the above, we analyzed the research of the Guarani and Kaiowá intellectuals of Mato Grosso do Sul, carried out in different educational institutions, seeking to observe how indigenous knowledge escapes from the western order, as it develops, developing and systematizing itself from the their own cosmologies and epistemologies, negotiating and translating into another relationship, when transiting in the “between-places” and, thus, fulfilling the academic rituals guided by universal knowledge.

Keywords : Guarani and Kaiowá knowledge; western knowledge; tradition.
