SILVA, José Rodolfo Lopes da; VITAL, Rodrigo da Silva  e  PEIL, Maria Waleska. “Mom, There’s a Drag Queen Telling Stories!”: curriculum, (re)existence and investment in imagination and self-production in the community. Sér.-Estud. [online]. 2023, vol.28, n.63, pp.177-194.  Epub 21-Ago-2023. ISSN 2318-1982.  https://doi.org/10.20435/serieestudos.v28i63.1732.

This paper aims to analyze a literary activity called Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH) and its potentialities. The action, which was initiated in San Francisco (California - USA) in 2015, has been permeating borders and facing different confrontations from the neoconservative movement. Consequently, it is also our interest to examine the investments of the neoconservative movement and its neoliberal moral project that, allied to the moral panic and fictions such as the traditional family values, desires to silence, make invisible, and stigmatize subjects and life processes that put under suspicion neoliberal fallacies, and reveal the subalternization processes of the difference according to the interests of the neoconservative wave, promoting a critical environment to resignifications of knowledge, practices, values and, consequently, to education processes. From theoretical and methodological perspectives we seek support in contributions from postmodern perspectives such as Foucault studies and Gender and Sexuality studies, considering the productive character of language in addition to its possibilities of (re)existence and subversion. Therefore, we defend that, producing another pedagogy involves recognizing the plurality and particularity of our society and its individuals, as well as permitting that each person be able to speak, to be heard, and to write their own story.

Palavras-chave : drag queen; curriculum; imaginary.
