This article focuses on problematizing the discourses on gender and teaching from the statements of the students and professors of the Pedagogy course at UESB. The perspectives that organize the analyzes are supported by post-critical studies of gender relations, sexuality and education. As speech production techniques, the semi-structured interview and the focus group were used with 6 (six) professors (1 man and 5 women) and 10 (ten) students (8 women and 2 men) of the Pedagogy course. We found that the subjects’ statements are more directed towards a discussion around sexualities; it is as if talking about gender were talking about sexuality and the issues that surround it. The discourse of gender ideology and the gay kit gained visibility in the subjects’ speeches, slogans that have provoked a moral panic throughout the country and harmed the debate on gender and sexuality issues.
