Abstract

GROSSI, Marcia Gorett Ribeiro; LEAL, Débora Cristina Cordeiro Campos  and  BORJA, Shirley Doweslei Bernardes. The educational potential of memes as a pedagogical resource. Sér.-Estud. [online]. 2023, vol.28, n.64, pp.289-312.  Epub Jan 05, 2024. ISSN 2318-1982.  https://doi.org/10.20435/serieestudos.v28i64.1668.

The objective of this article was to present the possibilities of using memes as a pedagogical resource, showing its educational potential. Thus, a qualitative and descriptive research was carried out. As for the technical procedure, it was opted for bibliographic research. The results revealed that memes, because they bring themes related to everyday situations in people’s lives in a fun way, and because they are strongly present in the digital world, have aroused curiosity and interest, which have a fundamental role in the learning of students from the nternet generation. The research showed the elements that must be present in memes (humor, criticism, content fixation, reflection, awakening interest in the discipline, historical context), which must be considered by teachers when using this genre in classrooms. The possibilities and concrete examples of the use of memes as pedagogical resources that facilitate learning were also presented.

Keywords : memes; learning; pedagogical resource.
