MOTA, Magna and RAMOS, Andreia Teixeira. Escrevivências of a black teacher: ancestral knowledge in the municipality of João Neiva. Sér.-Estud. [online]. 2024, vol.29, n.67, pp.49-73. Epub Dec 12, 2024. ISSN 2318-1982. https://doi.org/10.20435/serieestudos.v29i67.1934.
The aim of this article is to present the escrevivências of a retired black woman teacher based on ancestral knowledge, especially about the Congo, which is a secular cultural expression of the State of Espírito Santo (ES). To achieve the proposed aim, the methodology of documentary and bibliographic research was used, and the narrative research based on conversations with old residents of the municipality of João Neiva, ES. In this sense, it was possible to know the stories of the black population that inhabits the municipality and that is invisible in the official books. With the narratives produced, we strengthen the sense of belonging, of knowing where we come from, and the recognition of an ancestral wisdom that has moved us here. In this way, we rewrite our histories and value the memories of black people. Thus, we reaffirm the importance of complying with the Laws 10.639/2003 and 11.645/2008, with the application of an anti-racist education focused on the theme of Afro-Brazilian and African and Indigenous History and Culture in school daily life.
