Abstract

This study aims to reflect on Epistemological Circles as a tool for training teachers to Ethnic-Racial Relations Education (ERER) in Rural Youth and Adult Education. The methodology employed is qualitative, grounded in the principles of participatory research, using Epistemological Circles as a research tool with both investigative and formative characteristics. The teachers highlighted violence in territories due to the equitable distribution of land. They also pointed out that the school curriculum does not cater to rural individuals, and, when the school employs an urban curriculum with urban practices, it directly interferes with the construction of students’ identities. The teachers recognize that ethnic-racial inequality is historical and needs to be addressed. In conclusion, Epistemological Circles can serve as a tool for training and self-training, significantly contributing to the ongoing education of teachers in the context of ERER in Rural Youth and Adult Education. As teachers engaged in dialogue on the proposed themes, they discussed important concepts central to Ethnic-Racial Relations Education and Rural Youth and Adult Education, to problematize their practices in the process.
