This research aims to analyze the implementation strategies of the accountability model implemented in the system of management of the basic education network of the State of Pernambuco - Brazil Education Department, and if this policy favors mechanisms of democratic management. The study is exploratory in nature, carried out through the documentary research technique. The results indicate that the accountability model implemented consists of control and monitoring mechanisms aligned to the dispute between European and North American countries for competitive places in the global market.
