Abstract

The article focuses on the experience of a bilateral Program of education development in the context of Portugal's official development assistance, with reference to Guinea-Bissau. After explaining the inherent issues in the transnationalization of education, the text oversees development assistance and education privatization, the text discusses the impacts and effects that the Program support for public education has had on private schools. Data collection was based on document analysis, semi-structured interviews and focus groups. The results indicates that the support to the public schools at the same time supported private schools, and the intervention functioned as a curricular mediator.
