Abstract

This article aims to expose the debate established in the state of Piauí on the proposal of militarization of teaching; to present the experience of the militarized school full time Education center Dirceu Mendes Arcoverde; and problematize the bill in the processing of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Piauí (ALEPI) that proposes the expansion of the militarization of schools in State Education Network. The research consisted of documentary study and participant observation. The central references were Freitas (2005), Ricci (2019), Benevides and Soares (2019), which contributed to the understanding of the elements involved in the insertion of the militarization of teaching in the state education network of Piauí. The results inform the resistance of social movements to the militarization proposals of schools; the existence of a militarized school in the State and the advancement of militarisation proposals in Piauí, with the endorsement of the Secretariat of Education, which ensures differentiated treatment to this proposal, to the detriment of the other schools of the state Education network.
