This article is the result of a survey carried out in 2019 and aimed to present the theoretical and methodological foundations of continuing teacher training in the SME Professional Training Management (GERFOR). The research had as methodology bibliographic survey, documentary research, and empirical stage, with the application of questionnaires - for the coordination of GERFOR and the students. The research had as theoretical basis Janela (2000), Saviani (2008), Dias Sobrinho (2003), Luckesi (2010), Libâneo (2015), Guimarães (2004), among others. It was concluded that GERFOR plans its courses based on the demands raised by managers and teachers of the network contemplating aspects related to large-scale evaluations (national IDEB and other tests applied at the state and municipal levels). the main contents required in the exam of the Brazil Exam (Portuguese and Mathematics).
