Abstract

QUEIROZ, STENIO WAGNER PEREIRA DE; MARQUES, ERICO VERAS  and  CORREIA NETO, JOCILDO FIGUEIREDO. Relative efficiency of information technology in the organizational performance of federal educational institutes. Revista Brasileira de Política e Administração da Educação [online]. 2020, vol.36, n.2, pp.622-648.  Epub Jan 11, 2021. ISSN 2447-4193.  https://doi.org/10.21573/vol36n22020.101223.

The present work carried out a research on the IT impact on the administrative and academic performance of 31 Federal Educational Institutes (FEIs) between 2012 and 2014. The used technique was the data envelopment analysis, adopting the IT expenses and the level of IT governance as inputs and the organizational, administrative, and academic performance as outputs. The results showed that, in 2012, only 56.67% of the FEIs surveyed managed to reach a level of maximum efficiency, while in 2014, this result was around 60%. The findings are not capable of denying the productivity paradox.

Keywords : IT costs; IT governance; organizational performance; federal educational institutes.
