Abstract

This essay is based on a conversation with professor Ana Maria Saul and reflections on her. It aims to present Freire’s management at SME/SP, as she perceives it today. Methodologically inscribed in the field of narrative research, it addresses, in three parts, the themes of democratic education, university-school dialogues, and everyday life and their narratives, present in Freire’s management, dialoguing with the author’s concepts such as humanization, dialogue, and the educator’s political commitment as ways of fighting domination. In the end, it brings a reflection on the Freirean utopia as opposed to the current dystopia.
