This article aims to articulate categories of Freirean thought, awareness and commitment, with the construction of intervention alternatives, in the current scenario of dismantling and retrogression, in a counter-hegemonic and emancipatory perspective. The work of Paulo Freire (1967, 1979a,1979b) guides the analysis of this moment of transition, polarization and challenges, in the movement of reaffirmation of the political dimension of the educational phenomenon and its social function. The synthesis, given the uncertainties of the scenario under analysis, remain open, in a movement of dialogical construction, in defense of public education, democracy, and life.
