This article uses data from a doctoral research focusing on the historical path of democratic management in Brazil, seeking epistemological approaches to the work of the Brazilian educator Paulo Freire (1921-1997). The research methods used were the documentary analysis of the legal instruments that standardize this concept of management in the country and the bibliographic review of the literature on the subject, as well as the author’s work. The aim was to identify concepts in the framework of compatibility, evidencing convergences between the principles of this management, with assumptions of Freire’s work.
